Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK) DNA Testing for West Highland White Terriers

Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency is an inherited autosomal recessive disorder which affects the survival of red blood cells, leading to anemia and liver failure among affected dogs. This inherited disease is characterized by signs of anemia, low energy, and exercise intolerance. Most canines affected with PK will likely die between ages 1 and 4.

DDC Veterinary is offering fast, affordable DNA Testing for Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK). This is available to breeders and owners of West Highland White Terriers worldwide.

We will provide the owner with a detailed DNA report showing the canine's ID information and genotype for PK: CLEAR, CARRIER, or AFFECTED.

To order kits, call 1-800-625-0874, or order your PK Disease Test Online.

You can also use our downloadable Disease Test Order Form, which you can print and mail or fax to our laboratory (513-881-4069).
